Eyelid
Surgery
Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure of the eyelids. The eyelid surgery or
blepharoplasty removes bags under the eyes and extra skin of the eyelids. The blepharoplasty procedure is performed
using sedation with local anesthesia. Placement of the incisions is within the normal creases of the eyelids and
the appropriate amount of tissue is removed.
In some patients, the upper eyelid blepharoplasty plastic surgery procedure will
improve vision by removing the excessive skin of the upper eyelids that can hang down and interfere with peripheral
vision.
In other patients, the lower eyelid blepharoplasty may tighten up the lower eyelids
to make the eyelids appear less round. Bags under the eyes are a result of extra fat. The lower eyelid
blepharoplasty removes or reshapes the excessive fatty tissue and rejuvenates the lower eyelids.
Blepharoptosis is droopiness of the upper eyelid and repair of the attenuated
muscle is in conjunction with the blepharoplasty procedure.
