2. Upper eyelid surgery = $2,100 
3. Laser eyelid surgery = $3,000 to $5,000 

Having these figures in mind will help you make your own estimates. However, take note that the total cost is composed of several fees which may vary in every situation. In conformity with American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the surgeon’s fee will be around $2,523.

Moreover, another factor that affects the cost of eyelid surgery is the anesthesia being used. The cost of anesthesia would range from $400 to $600. Also, expect to pay for using surgical facilities. The usual charge for the use of surgical suite is around $500 for every operation of either lower or upper eyelids. It will increase if the patient’s condition required dual procedure which means operation on both sides of the eyelid. The cost for dual procedure would range from $800 to $1000.

Is it covered by Insurance?

There is no definite answer to that question. However, most health insurance companies consider eyelid surgery as an elective procedure and therefore not included in their health insurance plans. In most cases, it is the patient who’s paying for the charges.

While it is true in almost all cases, there is still an exception to the rule. That is when a patient has ptosis or severe sagging of eyelids which hampers clear vision. Health insurance companies will most likely cover the expenses of the patient under this condition.
